Instructions for Authors
Journal of Mycology and Truffle
The Journal of Mycology and Truffle (Mycotruffle) welcomes submissions of
original, high-quality scientific work in the fields of mycology, mushroom, and
truffle research. Manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English and
conform to the journal's formatting and ethical guidelines outlined below.
Article Types Accepted
Mycotruffle publishes the following types of articles:
Original Research Articles, Review Articles, Mini-Review, and Short Communications.
Manuscript Organization and Formatting:
1-General Requirements
- Only original and unpublished manuscripts are accepted.
- Manuscripts must be written in clear academic English.
- File format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) using the journal template.
- Article length: 3000–8000 words (including references, tables, and figures).
2-Manuscript Structure
- Abstract, Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion,
Conclusion, Acknowledgments (if any), Conflict of Interest Statement,
and References List.
Manuscripts should be arranged in the following order:
Title Page
- Title of the manuscript
- Full names of all authors
- Affiliations and institutional addresses
- Corresponding author’s email
Abstract
- A concise summary of the study (maximum 250 words).
- Should include: background, objectives, methods, main results, and conclusions.
Keywords
- Provide 3–6 keywords below the abstract.
Introduction
- Background of the study
- Rationale and objectives
- Relevant literature review
Materials and Methods
- Study design
- Materials and experimental procedures
- Statistical analysis (if applicable)
- Ethical approval (if required)
Results and Discussion
- Presentation of results with tables and figures
- Interpretation and comparison with previous studies
Conclusion
- Main findings of the study
- Scientific significance and future perspectives
Acknowledgments (if any)
Conflict of Interest Statement
References
3-Formatting Style
- Font: Times New Roman, 12-point size
- Line spacing: 1.5
- Margins: 2.5 cm on all sides
- Page numbers: bottom right corner
- Headings should be clearly numbered (e.g., 1. Introduction, 2. Materials and Methods)
4-Figures and Tables
- Figures and tables must be embedded within the text near their first citation.
- All figures must be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi) in PNG or JPEG format.
- Tables must be editable (not inserted as images).
- Each figure and table must have a descriptive caption.
- All figures and tables must be cited in the text.
5-References Style
Referencing style: APA 7th Edition (American Psychological Association 7th edition), Please use

How to Submit:
Authors must register and use the Submit Article
form online.
All submissions will be acknowledged within 5-7 working days.
Article Processing Charges (APCs):
The Journal of Macrofungi publishes all accepted articles free of charge during its initial launch phase. All publication costs are covered by the Iraqi Mushroom and Truffle Platform (IQMT).
This policy will remain in effect until early 2027. After that, a modest and reasonable publication fee will be applied..
Peer Review Process:
All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two reviewers.
Review duration: approximately 3-5 weeks.
Accepted papers are published online-first, followed by inclusion in the
next issue.
Ethical Guidelines
The journal follows COPE
(Committee on Publication Ethics) standards. Authors must:
-Declare any conflicts of interest.
-Avoid plagiarism (Turnitin or iThenticate report recommended, <15% similarity,
AI: <20% (*star, by Turnitin), Do not exclude by size).
-Ensure ethical approvals are obtained for research involving animals or humans.
